New solar labs opened by Minister Ferguson
Federal Energy Minister Martin Ferguson yesterday opened the new solar laboratories in the Engineering Building at ANU. He took the opportunity to announce a $5 million grant from Australian Solar Institute to upgrade ultraviolet laser equipment used in cutting and engraving thin-film solar cells.
The Minister and his colleagues enjoyed an extensive tour of the new laboratories where he was presented with a memento: a silicon wafer specially programmed by the new laser system to record his visit.
