Industrial solar cells

ANU is developing high efficiency industrial silicon solar cells together with our industry partner Trina Solar, with additional funding from the Australian Solar Institute. The project aims to achieve 19% efficiency on p-type multicrystalline silicon wafers using standard screen-printing technology. These cells have a dielectric passivation layer on the rear side, as shown in the diagram below, replacing the typical full area aluminium back-surface-field. The project also aims to develop 20% efficient front-junction n-type silicon solar cells.
